"During my tenure at UAS, Bangalore, I have worked as a breeder of Rice and Small Millets. In rice, my primary objective was to breed varieties that are resistant to blast disease. I have tried to achieve this objective by following both conventional breeding approaches as well as through marker assisted selection. Following conventional breeding approach, we have bred a new rice variety KMP-220 as a replacement to Jyothi, a red rice variety which is highly susceptible to blast disease. The new
