As a researcher, I have developed molecular models of unusual liquid crystal phases exhibited by highly polar compounds and explained strong photo-induced effects on liquid crystals. Also, I have developed theoretical models for various phases exhibited by anti-ferroelectric liquid crystals and those made of bent-core molecules and it predicted the possibility of new phases between smectic C and nematic, nematic and isotropic phases.
